Hi all, I need some help. My Slingbox was working fine using Brasil telecom ASDL internet and TVA cable connected straight in the slinbox. We decided to change the Internet/TV provider to NET which has its own TV box and internet modem. The wizard configuration does not recognize my slingbox anymore. Its says Slingbox not found. Some actions already done: 1) I reset my slingbox using that little button at the back (for 30 seg and all lights flashed ok). 2) Switch everything off and on again. 3) Interesting: If I connect my Slingbox straight on my PC, the wizard does find it! But I am unable to save the settings, of course I am not connected to any router or internet. 4) I am using this modem: Motorola SBV5121 VoIP. The config for this modem is pretty poor, there is nothing to change excluding Enable DHCP, Reset to factory settings and Reboot the modem. 5) I am using a switch called D-Link DES-1008D which is not a router - the router role was been done by my old DSL DI-504... If my modem motorola has no options to set up an IP range and open ports, I should presume...

Slingbox/Sky BB Help Please!

Recently switched to Sky BB - using an airport extreme attached to the Sky BB modem as a bridge for all my bits and bobs. All works ok, except for the slingbox, which cannot connect. As the Extreme is acting as a bridge, there is no 'port forwarding' option (but this was on when previously set up using Pipex, with the extreme as a normal router). I have switched port forwarding on 5001 on, on the Sky router (Sagem) settings, but to no avail - I get a 'can't connect' error. Can anyone help please? Away on Saturday and need it for the next week or two. Many thanks. Stan

I have problems connecting to my slingbox via my netgear hub. My setup is a cable modem-Netgear WNR834B router - Netgear DS108 Hub - slingbox The PC connected to the hub has full connectivity to internet and gets an ip 192.168.1.7 and all works well. When I plug in the slingbox to any of the hub ports no light goes on and the slingbox does not see any connectivity as well (no light on front network led) When i plug in the slingbox directly to the router (which is in the room below) it gets recognized just fine ! My router sees the device as well as any slingplayer on my PC's. The router sees the device and reports IP of 192.168.1.237. When I move the box back upstairs to the hub (using known working port and good cable) no light on the port or any further connectivity to network. I have tried the same cable that is connecting my PC from the hub and same issue. Hub has an uplink switch and either on/off no difference. PC works fine wheather the hub's up-link is on or off. Anybody have any idea please as to why I can't connect via...

Hello Not sure if this should be in the remote viewing forum or the slingbox classic one^, but here goes: So, I bought a slingbox classic when I was in the UK last week and set it up at my mum's. Worked fine locally, then I went off and checked it worked remotely at a mate's house. it did. Back in the US this week and it's not working. Spoke to slingmedia support. They determined that the IP address at my mum's had changed (speculated the router had been disconnected). They remotely configured the box to have a static IP address and assured me a) that it was working (they could view it remotely) and b) that the problem should not recur since they had set a static IP. I couldn't see it, as I was at work and (they speculated) my firewall was blocking. So I get home tonight and get same errors. I call slingmedia, they tell me that they can't find it using the finder ID again. Or the new static IP address. I'll have to get them in touch with my mum again. Only it's 2am in UK now! So I wait until tomorrow. Any insights...

I have 2 boxes, one is working ok, on the other the video will be off. The picture will split in the middle or go quad, so the bottom half of the video is on the top, and the top half is on the bottem or the left and right are split. This happens if I am watching remotely or at home. Any ideas, I have to stop the stream and restart to fix the video. It will last anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Very annoying! Thanks for any help in this matter

Ethernet jack in family room (ultimately connected to the 16 port hub in basement). 5 port-switch in family room plugged into ethernet jack. Xbox, Tivo, and slingbox plugged into 5 port switch. If I connect the slingbox directly to the ethernet wall jack in family room, it works fine. If I connect through the 5 port switch, I can not get the internet light on the slingbox to light up and can not get connectivity. Can someone please tell me how to connect through the 5-port switch?

Since upgrading slingplayer and I think some firmware at the sametime, often, but not always I run into a problem where I get connected, but hangs at the "optmizing", never showing any video or audio. I usually wait till I get home and just restart router and sling (not sure which fixes). Today it happened. Router appeared up. I remoted to a pc at home behind router running the old version of the player, could connect (over lan of course). Disconnected, tried connecting, from remote location. Same problem, hang at optimizing. Had friend try to connect, same problem. I connected to my router at home and verified that the port was still in the router settings (I set it manually) it was still there. Couldn't find where to restart my router remotely from browser, so did not restart router. Got back on machine at home (rdp again), could connect, went to Slingplayer|Properties|Slingbox Configuration|Network Settings, ran through the wizard, saying I will change the settings manually so I didn't think it did anything, the part where it tests the remote connection succeded. I disconnected, tried connecting from remotely and it worked. NOTE, I verified the router settings were in place prior...

Hi, I have recently tried to reconnect my slingbox SB 150-110 to my network at home and have not been able to connect even though I can see the box on the list of attached devices to the router. The Box used to be plugged directly into the router and since I have had my partner move in she has made me tidy my "boys" things up an bit so I am now using a pair of DEVOLO plugs to connect to it from where my Router is located rather than have a cable strung across my apartment. Has anyone else connected and used a Slingbox through this system? If so what am I doing wrong here? Thanks in advance. K1W1.

Hello, I have a cable modem plugged directly into a trendnet WIRED router (TW100-S4W1CA). My slingbox will not appear on either my Mac(MBP) or PC (Acer). I have tried everything from unplugging the sling, then plugging it in, unplugging the router, re-pluging that in. I've done hard resets (7-10 sec kind & 30 sec kind). I have 2 static (non-blinking) green lights on my Slingbox Classic at all times. When I do a hard reset, I get a slow blinking LED "N" with a slow blinking network green light. I have tried to run my setup assistant through the process to try and "catch" by chance the right time to get it to recognize my slingbox. This used to work when I had a different router ages ago, so the sling finder is all setup. I'm not sure if the actual Slingbox classic has the correct firmware on it, but I have no way of checking since neither of my computers can connect to it. 1 time, (How i don't know) the LED "N" stayed lit for a longer time then usual but still I couldn't get the computers to connect. Please give me suggestions, I don't want to go...

Thanks for reading my thread. First I'll give you some info about my setup, then at the bottom I'll explain a problem I'm having with the SlingPlayer Mobile remote control. I'd appreciate some help resolving this. Here's my setup details... I have the Humax PVR9200T with Slingbox Classic. The Humax has a really sensitive receiver with twine tuners that gives me a really good freeview reception in a weak area. Plus I get remote access to all the programmes I've missed by using the 160GB hard disk PVR capability (100 hours of recording). The Sling Player remote enables me to set up all my favourite shows to record on the PVR EPG, which I can then watch later. This is perfect when located in a country in a different timezone - as it means I dont have to stay up in the wee hours of the morning to watch live that favourite sitcom being shown during UK peak evening time. This is a great workaround to the problem of not being able to access the UK broadcasters on-demand facilities like iPlayer which are restricted in other countries. If you have an old Humax PVR9200T, you should update the firmware with...

I take NO credit for this, I found all the pieces here in this forum. This was the Classic Speed Drop but my Firmware revisions were different since my Sling classic was in the UK. Took me just about 10 mins, Fixed it great. My problems all started I updated my UK Sling Firmware to 1.0.34 which caused streaming to die after about a minute of use.. I went from 700kbs to 115kps constantly and this made it unusable. My wife was NOT happy :) So, the Fix; First, I downloaded the free hex editor http://www.hhdsoftware.com/Family/hex-editor.html - installed it. I downloaded and installed an older sling player on one of my PC's. Sling Player 1.4.0.206 to be precise, from here.. http://www.download.com/SlingPlayer/3000-2139_4-10573277.html You have to install this JUST to get the file.. SbPb1_5FwV1_0_31Current.bin which must be the older revision, 1.0.31 I guess. Then using the hex editor. Edit this file and change text 31 to text 35 at about position 32 (You will something like (or exactly) 01.00.0031..11/24/2006.). Change the 31 to 31 and save it. Then go to the sling player and update firmware option under Information (I updated this using my MAC Sling Player but all the players can...

Ok guys I installed my slingbox classic for the first time just the other week. Like some others I had a problem where the sound was loud and distorted. In order to get some sort of decent sound I had to lower the volume slider to almost zero. I emailed sling and provided all the details that they required. Now all of a sudden I am getting no sound at all, well that's not really true. I am getting sound but the volume on the slingplayer and also on my computer have to be at max and all I am getting can only be described as a faint whisper! What could cause this problem? I don't know if sling have gone into my box and changed some settings as I provided the password etc for them to remotely access the box. Any suggestions would be appreciated?
