I was using an old sling player 1.5 for long time. I just updated it to version 2.0 and downgrade back to 1.5 right away since the new sling player doesn't reconize my IR coded, which I used with my old Sling player 1.5. Does anyone khow what is the problem or could some one point me to the IR code for Pansat 250SM which work with new Sling player 2.0.? Thanks

Slingplayer too slow - why?

My slingplayer is running at a pathetic 60 kbps when hardwired to my new ISP connection which runs, consistently, at 5 MB download and 400 kbps to 1.5 MB upload. Why? It's a mystery to me...especially since I can access a neighbor's wireless signal that downloads at only 512 kbps and the slingplayer runs at a steady 210 kbps every time with that connection... This is baffling. I've contacted Sling support twice in the last 24 hours and they don't know how to explain it or what to do about it, either. I upgraded to slingplayer 2.0 a month ago. Sling support did finally suggest, out of desperation, to go back to version 1.5. I did that, and exactly the same thing happens, so it doesn't have anything to do with the version of the slingplayer. Can I fix this by manually changing bit rate and some of those settings? This is soooooooooooooo frustrating... Please, somebody, HELP! Mike in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Mine did... Don't blame the Slingplayer, blame bad advise or your tinkering self. No, don't have a go at me, I was just in that position. I have a Slingplayer Classic in UK and reside in the UAE. Everything was fine until the last update and my Sling died. Seems Sling optimiser expects good ADSL settings... It is simply down to bad info setting up the ADSL modems at each end. Ports were OK, but I had messed with the MTU of both ends at different times. Just set an MTU of 1454 on my PPoA ADSL connections at both ends and WOW!!! back to perfect streaming.. 1454 is optimised encap for PPoA and should work for PPoE even with overhead taken into account. I know this will not solve EVERY problem but I hope it helps some.. Farsquidge.

Hi folks, I am stumped... I have a slingbox PRO and the IR blaster cable is setup and verified as working (via camera lcd check) and I have verified that xbox system console remote setting is set to ALL CHANNELS in the console, and I have tried selecting as the video source DVD/RCA, DVD/XBOX--->DVD and DVD/Microsoft-------->xbox 360 as devices attached. I even tried OTHER/OTHER and clicked on every custom code it had listed (89 of them) My problem is that when I put a DVD into the xbox and it starts playing (and I can see it on my PC slingplayer just fine) I cannot get the virtual remote to control anything ie: pause, stop, ffw etc. I had tech support log in to my PC and look around and they just gave up after trying everything I already did. ( they tried to tell me the xbox 360 requires a special IR adapter - I know that is true on the Xbox (old style) but my xbox 360 works fine with my Microsoft XBOX 360 remote which is IR based) I am running the latest versions of the widows player, and it also upgraded (flashed) my slingbox Pro when...

I am using the UK version 1.5.0.332 of slingplayer. I cannot figure out how to add a custom logo to a favourite button. I have a JPEG file which I select after pressing the "Custom..." button and that JPEG file appears in the box above the Custom... button. I enter the channel number and save. The channel number is saved, but the button is just grey -- no sign of the custom logo. Am I missing something obvious? The Slingplayer on-line help is if no help -- in fact, it's rather vague on this subject. Anyone out there who can help?

I have a machine in my basement (an HP m9100t if anyone cares) that is/was my primary computer to watch my slingbox. It has Vista Home Premium x64 on it for the OS. I have a slingbox pro that I have installed at a friend's house so that I can pick up one of the channels that he has that I can not get. I installed everything and had it working fine for a few months. All of a sudden one day when I try to watch the slingplayer it connects just fine but it says that it is only streaming at 4 Kbps and there is no picture or audio. I can watch the slingplayer on any of the other computers on my network so I know that the slingbox is working fine and my router is not blocking the traffic. I assumed that Windows update or my firewall/AV program (Norton at the time/Windows Live One Care now) had pulled down an update that caused a conflict. After lots of troubleshooting I ended up removing Norton entirely and rolling the computer back to factory settings. When I reinstall the Slingplayer it still has the same issue. Slingmedia technical support...

First off, I am a long time user. A passionate one. I often say my slingbox is THE BEST PURCHASE I HAVE EVER MADE!!! However I am having some strange performance on my new laptop. My Slingbox is at my mothers home in Chicago, IL. I got her massive upload speeds and historically I enjoy 800-1000 kbps streaming anywhere in the US and overseas. At my home (in Tokyo, Japan) I have a fibre-optic internet connection with the following statistics from home (as rated by www.speedtest.net): to Tokyo: ping time: 8ms Download Speed: 17,046 kb/s Upload Speed: 9,105 kb/s to Chicago: ping time: 200ms Download Speed: 1,563 kb/s Upload Speed: 670 kb/s I have PCs (2 laptops and 1 desktop) all running slingplayer 1.5.0.322. My other laptop and my desktop all stream great, in that 800-1000 range. My new work laptop pc is by far the highest powered pc I own. 2GB RAM, dualcore cpu, some ridiculous processor. It runs XP. Problem being that my new pc streams TERRIBLY. The following is a test I just ran: 1) On home desktop (at home). Starts up, streams at 800-1000 kbps for hours at a time. 2) On new laptop (at home)....

I've just got a SlingBox Solo. Promises, promises... I have a pretty standard UK cable box (Telewest D4000). It is one of only a dozen cable boxes available in the UK. There is a choice for this box in the setup but all I get is a generic remote for it that is missing the few buttons that I need to operate the TV On Demand. This is very disappointing. I had the impression that SlingBox was better than that. The virtual remote doesn't look like my own remote but I can live with that. However the missing buttons mean that my "Watch again" is inaccessible along with all the other On Demand functions. The cable box is 5 years old so why is there no specific remote for it? Can some kind soul please point me in the right direction in order to be able to access these missing services from the SlingPlayer. I'm sure there must be a way of doing it. Many thanks.
