I recently bought and successfully installed Slingbox Solo. Now, I am trying to install it on my sons Apple laptop. Software install seems successful but I get a "connection error". Have verified numerous times over that the login id and password are correct, as is that long id #. Called slingbox a couple of times, they were no help..said it was to be in laptops firewall. Went into security settings and have it set to "allow all incoming connections". Any suggestions ? Thank you

Hello, I recently got a SlingBox Solo and was able to set up everything just fine. Just one major problem, I cannot remote connect to my SlingBox from work. The only reason I got a SlingBox was to be able to watch my tv from work. I am able to successfully remote connect to my SlingBox from other computers outside of my home network (such as from my friend's house). I have tried just about everything. I changed the port from 5001 to 443 and I still get no luck. I have also tried various other ports. I have also tried connecting via the Finder ID and also by the IP and port information. Still no luck. I read somewhere that if you set the proxy in the SlingPlayer to the same proxy as your web browser, it should work. The problem is my work uses an Automatic Proxy Configuration URL (such as http://workdomain.com:9090/proxy.pac) to connect to the Web and it seems like the SlingPlayer configuration doesn't have any place where I can enter that URL in. It just has a place for a normal proxy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've run out of options. :( Thanks.

HEllo everyone, Im new to the sling community. I was really happy I got the setup and everything working on the Sling solo. Im using a MAc to use sling. My problem is, while during the setup assistant, I saw that the video screen was all blue. But once the setup was finished. I started up Sling, the video feed is still all blue. All the images are blue, and im not getting the natural colors. Just blue images of people and the whole screen is literally blue. Also getting a error message saying, "Unsupported signal like 1080P is connected"????? Anyone have any solutions, please let me know. Thanks, **Im using a Slingbox Solo, firmware version: 1.0.6.244. For video input, im using the video component cables on my hd receiver, and the composite cables for audio. I made sure the cables are connected properly. Still having same problem :O( Nevermind, I called Customer SErvice they said dont use the component cables, use only the composite cables. IT completely fixed the problem. NO "error messages for un supported signal like 1080p". The Tech recommended i get a HD connect cable to view HD channels on my Slingbox solo. HOpe that solves the...

I hope Slingbox company will change there mind for supporting Windows 2000. I just learned that they will not support windows 2000 any more. I have to buy new Operating System just to have slingbox player in my computer. This is not good for us end users, like now we have economic problem how can we use our slingbox if we did not have extra money for the new operating system? I hope this company will rethink about this issue. May be in good economic time this will be OK? Also if we are part of the government bailout.

I am just looking into whether Slingbox would be of any use in allowing me to watch UK television while living in Spain. My question is, if I have a broadband connection, router and satelite receiver in the UK, and set up the slingbox, can I take the software to Spain and download it to my PC there, to get the slingbox operating? It is a desktop PC and, therefore, not transportable.

Hi, I have the Sling Solo, Direct TV HD-DVR HR-720. I run my video set up and everything works. My IR is placed in the right place and I can power on and off my Slingbox and even change the station. However, when I pull up my Slingbox, it doesn't give me the option to pull up my remote control nor does it let me change the station through the guide (nothing happens when I click change station). Why would my remote control be greyed out so I can't even select it? If I type Alt-R nothing happens. Thanks,

Hi there, I'm new to this forum. But I'm not new to the Sling. I have been using it for a while. However, I have discovered that for some unknown reason, Sling decides what A/V devices my SOLO would support based on where it was bought. So, it looks like I have a US SOLO that I'm using in the UK which has led to me not being able to configure my STRONG Satellite Receiver nor my LG HDD DVD Recorder. I tried asking Sling support if they could help me. But they couldn't do anything except to say that I need to buy a SOLO in the UK. Talk about slegehamer and fly! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone out there in Slingland had similar issues and how you overcame them. Also, if you have a UK/EU firmware version 1.2.14 (release date: August 2008), could you please email it to me. I realise that I may break the SOLO by doing so. But it is of no use to me if I can control the device that I want to. The good people at Slingbox really should think about what they're doing when design their products. Really! Thanks for...

Not sure which thread to add my experience to so I just started this one: I started having the same problems as others. When using the 2.0 software my slingbox would disconnect itself after 3 - 4 minutes. It did this both remotely and connected to my LAN. I checked the router, played with the configuration, enabled QoS (for the hell of it), still had the same disconnection issues. I know everyone is talking about the firmware. I'm not entirley convinced its the firmware. I think it is the 2.0 desktop software itself or that new login crap. On my laptop I have 2.0. LIke others, I ugraded when I got the prompt and have had trouble ever since. When trying to connect wirelessly didn't work, I loaded 2.0 on my desktop which is hard wired through a port on the router to my slingbox - same issue. I uninstalled 2.0, installed 1.5 and had the same issues. I then uninstalled 1.5 AND USED REGEDIT. I did a search for "sling" and deleted EVERY entry in the registry for sling. Then rebooted. I found my original 2005 sling software 1.0.1.73 and installed that. (It did ask me to upgrade to...

Returned happy until after powering up modem & laptop & getting msg “Unable to connect to the Slingbox Finder. Please check you Internet connection and firewall settings. Error 0x923400F” I waited overnight because my slingbox is timed to power down 15mins and power up again each midnight. After powering up modem & laptop again next day I get same cursed message despite simultaneously disabling Norton Firewall, Windows Firewall and Router Firewall. Internet works fine throughout. What can I do to make it work (with access to kit in UK)? Many thanks; it's doing my head in. P.S.
Hi everyone, I am wanting to buy a slingbox but need help in deciding which to purchase the pro or the solo. I plan on using it to receive my DirecTV signal on my laptop and possibly on my wife's cellphone. Can the solo do both of these at the sametime? I know the name says solo but I frankly don't understand the relationship between the box and the cell phone since there are no wires to connect does it count as another device? My application will require using the slinglink as well due to the router location. Thanks!

Hello party people, I am hoping for some assistance. I have a slingbox solo and it runs... technically. I am trying to watch on my lan, which is fine, I can watch streaming video from other sources here without problem. When I connect to the slingbox, i see video and hear audio for a couple seconds usually, but then the kbps starts to fall quickly to 0. It does this immediately if I try something bold like... changing the channel. Every now and then it will come back for a split second, then go back to 0 kbps again and eventually disconnect. This isn't even remote viewing, which is what I ultimately want to be able to do, so I figure that I should solve this problem first. Does anyone have any advice, or has heard of this problem before? thanks in advance!

So I got a new slingbox solo for my b-day and I have a problem. I only have basic cable at my apartment. That means no cable box and that means no tuner. This was a gift from a friend and I know she was trying her best so I dont really want to return it. Is there anyway I can hook up the slingbox solo to my tv. I am not the most tech guy in the world so any suggestions would be fine. Also the only other slingbox I can find is the Pro-HD which is way more then what I need. The solo would be perfect if it were not for the fact that it lacks a cable tuner port. Through further searching I see that the only singboxes with a cable in port are the slingbox tuner, slingbox pro and slingbox pro-hd. I can not find either the tuner or pro for sale anywhere and the prohd is just too much.
