I'm sure you guys know the answer to this but I can't for the life of me find it in this forum. When I first setup with the widows software I downloaded I created a slingbox name with a password. I also had to give an email with another password. I also created another account with another email and password for when I'm at work. Thinking I could let my son watch when he's not home, I created another account for him to use with another email and password and sling ID. (Hope you're still with me.) The problem, I log in to the third account I created for my son to test it out and discovered that I can't actually watch anything through the web "watch.slingbox.com site without the original slingbox password I created when I first setup. So what's the point in creating more than one user account if in the end you still have to give the main sling password AND the sling ID? If this is how it works the security is horrible. In short I want to let my son watch tv when he's not home but I don't trust his notebook as he and...

I'm looking to set up an HTPC with slingplayer integrated. The final product will hopefully be completely controlled by an MCE remote. Is it possible to completely control slingplayer from there, or will a keyboard or mouse be necessary?

How I recorded a Slingbox stream on my Mac mini

I have a SlingCatcher and a Mac mini and I've been looking for ways to schedule recordings of my Slingbox stream. Ideally, I'd hook up the Slingbox to a DVR and watch the DVR using SlingCatcher, but in my case, this is not feasible because DVRs are not available where my Slingbox is located (Hong Kong). I read that some have done this using SlingPlayer for Mac and a screen capture utility, but this only allows recording of a live feed, whereas I'm interested primarily in scheduled recording (e.g. every weekday at 4:30AM). Perhaps this is a niche, but I found quite a few posts (in this forum and others) where people want to do this, dating back to 2007, so I thought I'd shared how I did it. My setup: - SlingCatcher - Mac mini - Elgato EyeTV 250 Plus First, if you aren't familiar with the EyeTV 250 Plus, it is essentially a USB accessory that turns your Mac into a TiVo. One nifty feature of the EyeTV 250 Plus is that it can take S-Video or Composite (red/white/yellow) as input. More information at: http://www.elgato.com/elgato/na/mainmenu/products/250plus/product1.en.html It took a bit of trial-and-error but I hope the steps below will...

I've been using a slingbox pro for well over a year and it was working brilliantly until a few months ago, soon after upgrading to Sling Player 2. One day I opened the player and tried to change the channel as I usually do but nothing happened! At the bottom left corner of the player it said 'Controlling...' and then nothing happens, but continues to stream the same channel. This has been the case since July. The place where the slingbox is located is vacant and no one could have touched the slingbox since I left it in July. To catch the signal from the DVR I use the IR blasters method. Could they be broken or maybe the DVR stopped working? Why did this happen all of a sudden when everything was absolutely fine before? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, I've switched for the first time (just to try...) to the audio only mode. But now, I can't return to the video mode. My slingplayer is stuck in the audio mode, even if I can hear in the background my TV and I can tune. And if I go in the menu : > View > Display Mode > Video only mode is not activated. I can't click on it and the shortcut "Alt+;" doesn't work neither... I've tried to disconnect et reconnect. To shut down Slingplayer and lauch it again. No matter what I do, Slingplayer is stuck in the audio only mode... Anynody knows how to fix it? I don't know what version of the software I was on before but I just got the update message about a week or two ago. Thanks.

SlingPlayer worked fine last night. Woke up this morning and fired it up and got the message that SlingPlayer had expired - that I'd have to download a newer version. After clicking OK, it took me to the download page with the same version listed that I had. Downloaded it anyway. But when I go to run it, I get the EULA, and then it craps out. I did update to 10.6.2 yesterday, but it worked last night. I think I'm more than three months out, but if they pitch me any crap when I call after work today, they can take this thing and shove it.

Ever since I've upgraded to Snow Leopard I get these intermittent flickers in approximately every 5-10 minutes of watching. I thought the new version 1.0.10 would solve this issue, but no cigar so far. Has anyone else experience this? I've access the same Slingbox through PC, and I will not have these flickering issues, therefore I know it's not the Slingbox that's having the issue, but the compatibility issue between SlingPlayer and OS X 10.6.x. .10 1.0.10 1.0.10

When I try to watch via the online viewer, I get the message that the web-based slingplayer only works with Intel-based Macs using Leopard. Can't I somehow access my slingbox from overseas by installing a software rather than watching via the web-based player? Or am I going to have to get a new computer or dish out another few hundred for a slingcatcher?

I have an original Slingbox. It is connected to a couple of Dish Network DVRs. Because of this, I really don't have any need for the Sling program guide or the ability of the Slingplayer to cache an hour or two of a stream. All it does for me is provide reduced performance of the software. In addition, I find that the auto resizing of the picture every time I press a key or click a remote button to be incredibly annoying.I guess for me, newer is not always better. I am looking for a player that has the same functionality and speed of the original player that came with the Slingbox. Will version 1 of the software work with Vista, Windows 7 and the current Slingbox firmware version? Does anyone know of any plans by Sling to produce a version with reduced functionality and improved performance?
