Is there any way to watch tv on my Slingbox Pro HD remotely using a Power PC-based Mac with the Tiger operating system? When I try to watch via the online viewer, I get the message that the web-based slingplayer only works with Intel-based Macs using Leopard. Can't I somehow access my slingbox from overseas by installing a software rather than watching via the web-based player? Or am I going to have to get a new computer or dish out another few hundred for a slingcatcher?

Being the ever dutiful drone, I complied with the software's upgrade notification. Now, the closed captioning doesn't work properly. It flashes for about a quarter of a second. It is unreadable. Has anyone else experienced this? Are there plans to fix it? My PC is a 1 year old, top of the line Dell Inspiron 1720 running Vista Ultimate SP1. I don't remember ever seeing this problem before the upgrade. Regards, Dan

looking for less features

I have an original Slingbox. It is connected to a couple of Dish Network DVRs. Because of this, I really don't have any need for the Sling program guide or the ability of the Slingplayer to cache an hour or two of a stream. All it does for me is provide reduced performance of the software. In addition, I find that the auto resizing of the picture every time I press a key or click a remote button to be incredibly annoying.I guess for me, newer is not always better. I am looking for a player that has the same functionality and speed of the original player that came with the Slingbox. Will version 1 of the software work with Vista, Windows 7 and the current Slingbox firmware version? Does anyone know of any plans by Sling to produce a version with reduced functionality and improved performance?

I'm using a Slingbx AV connected to a Motorola cable box (Comcast cable). Even on my internal LAN (I have the latest Apple Extreme N router, with my desktop connected to it via an ethernet cord), the slingbox stream is very blocky (pixelated). I have a screengrab of what it looks like but can't seem to figure out how to attach it here. Is this normal, or should the quality be better? Does anyone have a screengrab of what it should look like (and/or can tell me how to attach mine here)? thanks, Mike

Digital audio is making very strange sounds like very slow motion audio. Video is struggling to buffer. Where can I download the previous version of SlingPlayer software from? Deleting the update, rebooting, and reinstalling from website file did not fix the problem.

US version of 2.0.4 with uk slingbox

Apologies if this is a stupid question but I am a newbie here! I have noticed the new version of slingplayer (2.0.4) on the download page but the uk site is still listing version 2.0.3 as the latest. I have tried 2.0.3 but I was unhappy with the quality (as all video appeared to contain verticle lines which were not present in 1.5) so have gone back to 1.5 and all is good again. As I like the buffer etc in the new version I am tempted to try the US version of 2.0.4 with my UK Pro but am unsure if this will cause any problems (i.e will it try and update the firmeware on the box etc). So, Is it safe to try it or should I wait for the UK version to appear? Any comments appreciated.

I am in another country from my Slingbox. I upgraded to the new software last night. I then upgraded the software on the Slingbox (even though it recommended not doing this remotely). I then started everything up, and everything worked fine - except I had no audio. This morning my friend logged in to our Sling remotely, and he didn't perform the upgrade, and his Sling is working fine. With audio. He also has acccess to the Slingbox itself if needed. Thanks.

New Version intercept message - requires net connection?

Every time I launch my player, I get intercepted with a message that says there's a new version available. After I accept to install, it times out and tells me an internet connection is required. Isn't that message an oxymoron? How does the player know there's a newer version if it's not connected to the internet? This happens on a desktop directly connected to my primary router. I'm running XP and player version 2.0.3.508. When I went to the Sling site to download directly, the version is just listed as 2.0.3, which I'm sure is just shorthand for whatever the build version is, but since I'm already running 2.0.3.508, I'm not going to install until they are more specific, or I can get the auto update to work. As it is, it's annoying to constantly have my slingplayer launch intercepted every time I try to watch TV.

Well actually, it now doesn't work either way as I made the mistake of running the connection assistant.....silly me. I'm aware that there are problems with Snow Leopard 10.6 and I know everything is setup properly on the Slingbox and router as I can connect with a Win Vista laptop and also my iPhone. It just seems odd that Slingplayer for Mac worked on the local network but not when run externally. I've tried turning off the firewall and also the Firefox User Agent trick with sling.com but nothing is letting me access my box when I'm at home. Have Sling made any comment as to when they'll be sorting this or should I just seek a refund from where I bought it? Not fit for purpose and all that..

When I install and after seeing the demo movie, main window of player appears properly, but when I click "Log in" , blank window appears but nothing happens. It is white-out window, and it seems some sort of software is obstructing or missing. I also tried to run the Set-up wizard, and same thing happened. I tried to turn off the firewall software, cut all running softwares, run Windows on safe-mode with network, but was unsuccessful. I asked my friend who also have same pc as me to try, and it worked. Do you have any idea what is the reason? Thanks!
