Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra

Hello, I need help configuring this receiver with my sligbox (pro HD). I can't figure out how to configure it so I can control it. I have video and sound, but can't control it. I understand that I need to provisde some kind of code, and the receiver support people told me the following: Assuming that you are looking for a "number", there really is no such thing. Ie devices that serve as universal remotes have numbers that correspond to different remotes, but those numbers only have meaning to that device, so you'd have to see if the slingbox people have a code for Fortec or not. I have the JP1 code for the Fortec Lifetime and Fortec Lifetime Ultra, but it isn't a single number, but instead a long string of numbers based on a NEC-1,32 protocol. I doubt that this would help you unless the slingox people can use it to create a code for you. The Ultra can use 2 different remote codes, one specific to itself, and it also uses the codes used by the Fortec Lifetime (ie a lifetime remote works for both the Ultra and Lifetime, but the Ultra remote doesn't work on the...

I have the Sling HD Pro and it is hooked up to an Apple TV using component cables. The sound is fine when watching tv shows but when i play music it sounds terrible. Which digital audio cable works with Apple TV and the Sling Box? The user guide states that a S/PDIF cable is required and goes in the orange coloured audio port on the sling, but the Apple TV doesn't have this orange audio port, all it has it this square shaped socket with a red LED. ps, I tried my toslink cable and it didn't work. Thanks!

Control 2 DirecTV DVRs??

Have 2 DVRs, both use the same type remote control, and I want to connect both to the sling box. How can I control each independently? With the remotes, it is done by changing the control code on one to 00002 and controling it with the AV2 position on the remote(also set to 00002). Is there a way in the slingbox software to change the control code for a video source? There doesn't seem to be a way to select AV1 or AV2 on the Slingbox DirecTV remote. Thanks, Charlie

Two DirecTV DVRs, Same Remote?

I have an R-16 DVR and a HR-21 DVR, both controlled by the RC-64 remote. The Remote emulation in sling player controls them both great. In order to control them separately with the remote, I changed both the R-16 and it's remote to use the AV2 position on the remote, and code 00002. This works fine to separately control the two DVRs. I would like to contol them both with the Slingbox. Is it possible to modify the slingplayer remote emuation to use a different code, or use a different remote, or what?? I see a lot of similar items in this forum, there must be some solution... TIA, Charlie

I recently bought a Slingbox Pro-HD for a family member working overseas. The constant need to change DVD's was getting annoying. I bought a Sony DVP-NC80V 5 disc changer to make things easier. The model is listed as supported, but like my Series 2-DT Tivo, some of the buttons work incorrectly. The biggest issue, is the dic skip menu button does not work. Is there anyway to make this work? Right now I'm using some acustom code I found online, just so you are able to skip discs. However, it is slightly complicated to explain to them. Thanks.

It was easy enough to find the files, but there is nothing that will play them. Even dragging them into the Slingplayer window has no effect. Is there a way I can convert the files (.smf) to something usable? My daughter's high school football team will be playing in the state championship game tomorrow, and I'd like to save the game for her. And for me too, to be honest about it. I don't want to hear any nonsense about copyright laws, because there are VCRs, DVRs, and a host of other recording mechanisms which are currently in use. I rarely watch TV, so I don't have any of these things, save for maybe and old VCR. Damned if I know where a blank tape might be. Could somebody help me out on this?

Hi to all, Sorry if this has been asked before but I am a new Slinger and have had a very unhappy experience ever since I hooked this thing up. I now have it up and running but I have lost my virtual remote from the screen. My Sling (Slingbox Pro) is hooked up in Canada and I have a Sonicview 8000HD satellite box running with it. I managed to find the code for the Sonicview (S1786) but had to do some changes to the audio, video set up (these were done remotely from overseas). Since I have done that the A/V wizard will no longer accept the S1786 code, it says that it cannot connect with that code. I therefore am stuck on one channel with no way of changing it. There is noway to access the remote and even the remote tab in the menu bar is greyed out?? I had my "source" confirm that the IR blaster and all other cables etc are hooked up properly, I don't have access to the Sling as I view it remotely from overseas so I am limited as to what I can do. Anyone out there with any info or suggestions?...

Hi good people, Just saw that there was an update made for both the NTSC/PAL versions for the Starhub virtual remote - does this mean that those of us slinging with a Starhub box will be able to use its particular remote control skin? I ask this because I am still using the basic remote skin (red/black) and when I click down on the remote control options I do not have any other choices to pick. Tried to redo set-up to trigger a change but to no avail. I am using Slingplayer 1.5.1.335. Thanks in advance!

Back when the iPhone was first announced, this forum was alive with comments from the sling team discussing the possibilities of the platform and the video driven design of the devices. Obviously, some design time was required, and the App Store was not even around yet, so I was patient. Then, in January of this year a glimmer of hope from Sling: http://www.slingcommunity.com/article/26450/SlingPlayer-with-iPhone-and-iPod-... Excerpt: "For 2008, I am certain that we will at least see a beta release of SlingPlayer Mobile for the iPhone and iPod Touch." Then back in July, a prototype of the sling player for iPhone began popping up all over the place. Online journals like Engadget had links to YouTube videos showing what appeared to be a limited feature but functional iPhone sling player and again the forums were ablaze with the promise of the iPhone. Still the beta was not released and nothing more was spoken of it. Now six months after that, there is still no clear answer from sling about the availability of the player for the iPhone. Whenever someone posts an inquiry in the forums they are immediately shot down with a reference to another obscure posting stating that "it is in...
