SlingPlayer Version 2.0.0.465

Since I installed this SlingPlayer 2.0.0.465 version, my streaming got real worse. Let me explain, whenever I start watching fast few minutes picture quality is absolutely wonderful. But, in 5 to 10 minutes the streaming bit will drop from over 1200kbps to almost 112kbps. Picture quality will become miserable to watch. Kbps rate will keep fluctuating all over the range, never consistent. If lucky, only consistent rate is at 112kpbs, still very choppy audio/picture. I never had this problem with previous version. I understand there are few good features with this new one. But, what good does it make if I can't watch it all. Please help me here. If necessary, I want to go back to previous version. It is worth to mention that, I have no problem of inconsistency with all other Video streaming sites such as, JumpTv dot com, hulu dot com etc. I can watch those sites hours without a single drop of bits.

I know that the full fledged Sling Player for iPhone is in the works, but how about just the Remote Control aspect of it. I would get a ot of use out of just being able to use my iPhone to control my TV from different rooms in my house. I would pay 3-5 bucks for an iPhone app like that.

Sling Media; Why is it, firmware updates are not accompanied with firmware release notes? I think it is only fair, we be warned when new firmware is to be released and notes saying what fixes were done and features added. You like our feedback on problems. We would like your feedback, on what you think has been fixed. I see this is being done, somewhat, with Slingcatcher. Whats wrong with the rest of the devices family?

Silcondust has a product called HDHomerun. It has two ATSC/ClearQAM tuners in it and when plugged into a Cable network or an Over The Air (OTA) antenna, it will stream unencrypted digital television. The two things it doesn't do is decode analog or encrypted signals. That basicly leaves the user to the 7 broadcast networks (NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, CW, MYnetwork and PBS) for viewing. The intent of this box is not the same as the Sling Media's model of streaming over the internet, but rather you can place this device anywhere in the home that receives the signal and has a network connection. Pluging the box into each, your computer can pick up the signal as if it were a tuner card in your PC. The increased value is, any and all PCs in your home can take advantage of this tuner, just no more than two at a time. The method Silcondust uses to deliver content to the display is by installing a small app that is always running in the system tray. This app emulates a video capture hardware device that is recognized by Vista or XP. After installed, and properly configured, the user runs through the...

I live in Singapore and thinking about purchasing SlingBox Solo. I will install the SlingBox Solo at my brother’s house in the US. He presently has Charter cable service (expanded basic) and Bell South DSL (1mbps/256kbps). Yea, I know it sucks, but I'm willing to pay to upgrade his end so that I can watch some real football. Hopefully someone can help me with the following questions and concerns: 1. Is 256kbps upload speed suitable? If not, options to upgrade to cable are 5Mbps/384kbps, 10Mbps/1Mbps. Which is recommended? 2. Because Singapore is 12+ hr time difference from the US I will have to purchase a DVR. I've contacted Charter, the cable service provider and asked if their DVR (Motorola 6416 or 3416) is compatible with SlingBox and they never heard of SlingBox. I checked SlingBox list of compatible DVR's but could not find this exact model number. 3. Must I use the cable service providers DVR or can I use another manufactures compatible DVR? Any recommendations? The reason I ask this is, the cable company said in order for another DVR to be compatible with their digital cable service, their cable cards would have to be installed in the DVR....

I don't know if it's come up here before, but because there are often questions about buying a slingbox for people in other states to get the sports games there, I was wondering about the creation of a slingbox out-of-town community. It came up because i live in New Jersey but am a Miami Dolphins fan. I don't have people who live in that area that I can buy a slingbox for and I'd rather not pay for the NFL ticket if possible. So could Slingbox Personals be created on this site to find that fan in the maimi area who likes the Jets or Giants and based on some general rules (like don't touch the TV while the game is on) could I sling his Dolphins game and he sling my Jets game? I'm sure there are a lot of things that would need to be worked out, but this is exactly the kind of thing that makes sling so good and worth every penny. What are your thoughts, and is it technically doable?

SlingCommunity is one of the slowest forum web-sites that I visit. Sometimes it is a little slow. Sometimes it isn't even worth browsing because of how slow it is. It is never as fast as other forums that I read. Any idea what is making it so slow? Is it the hosting provider? or the database needs to be trimmed or indexed or something? There aren't a huge number of posts on here. Just wondering why it is so slow.

There are a few updates that have been rolled out with the newest release of our community platform, and I'd like to let you know how to take advantage of them! First of all, you may have seen in the last release that you now have the ability to add your country's flag to your profile. Now, if you'd like to see where everyone else on the site is posting from, you can click on the flag next to anyone's profile. This will bring you to a screen where you can see the flags for all users. Find people who are in your same country or area! You can see an example below. The second change involves the download area of the site. In a previous release, you gained the ability to post multiple discussions to a download. Now, by clicking on the "subscribe to discussions" link within each download, you'll get a notification when new discussions are posted to that download. We'd love to hear your feedback, as always. Keep on enjoying the site! Matt

In our recent upgrade to our platform, we've introduced some great new community features, and I'd like to introduce you to how they work. Rating Content Items First, we've added the ability to rate other content on the site, such as individual forum threads. You'll also be able to see average user ratings for each content item. Go right ahead and start rating your favorite content items, and help other community members find the best stuff! Update And Personalize Your Profile Second, we've upgraded the profile screen, and added the availability of some great custom options. Here's what you'll now be able to do: Add your Twitter username Add your YouTube ID Add your Flickr account All of these will be visible when other community members view your profile. In addition, you'll also be able to select the country you live in , and your country's flag will be proudly displayed next to your avatar! Groups We've also enhanced the Groups section of the site.

Slingers, As many of you have seen, the SlingCommunity has undergone several updates and improvements over the last few months. As we continue to evolve this innovative and original approach to our community software platform, we hope you find many of the changes and enhancements enjoyable and useful. I would also like to say that as we continue to try new ideas, we really value feedback from you, our users. Not all of the changes we've made over the last year have made people do cartwheels and backflips out of pure joy, but we always have our ears perked up to hear your thoughts and make this community work exactly how you want. The vast majority of changes I'll talk about below are inspired by the feedback we've gotten, so please keep those suggestions and calls for improvements coming. So without further adieu, let's get to the updates! This time it's all about the forums and comments, and I (personally) think you'll all love what's new. Single Thread, Single Topic First the biggest change of all... After much feedback, the concept of multi-dimensional forum threads is going away, meaning that threads will no longer be multi-tagged to forum topics. You...

Why does Slingbox do this? I have 3 Slingbox classics in different locations and they all do the same thing. I can set them up fine for video input from a satellite receiver, but when I try to use the Slingbox internal analog TV tuner as well, to access different channels, things go fatally wrong. It will tune the analog channels ok, and you can see them while they're tuning, but when you get to the last step, to save the new configuration, the next button never appears. After that the box is frozen completely. I can't access it in any way. The only way to recover it is if someone is available at the remote location to remove the power and plug the power back in again. THIS IS JUST WHAT YOU DON'T WANT FROM A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT DESIGNED TO BE USED REMOTELY! It should NEVER get into a state where it can not be reset remotely. Every one of my 3 Slingbox classics has done this, and I have had to abandon the idea of using the internal tuner with any of them. What is wrong, and is there anything I can do? And please , try...

Hey gang! I'm happy to announce that the Sling FAQ area here on SlingCommunity has finally gotten a much needed overhaul! The changes are numerous, but the general gist is that it's been divided out in a way so each FAQ section gets its own comments thread (so you guys and gals can make suggestions on new FAQ additions), a tab has been added to the main nav bar to make it visible, and the new layout will make it much easier to manage from this end so I can make sure it gets updated much more frequently. Plus, everything in it is up to date as of now. Go check it out and make some suggestions for questions that should be included.

This is just an observation. I went to the Sling accounts page to up date my email. 1. It would not let me change my email, 2. It required me to enter my Sling box model, I have a Solo, but the pull down box does not have Solo listed. I went to the support page thinking I could email or chat with support. There's no option for email that I could find on the contacts page and no general support section in the chat option. I would like to tell Sling directly they need to make some small changes, but I can't find any way to send general feedback. Suggestions?
