Needless to say, I use my SlingCatcher constantly. After a few hours, it gets so hot that it reboots. The bottom of the SlingCatcher is almost untouchable at this point. I went to Best Buy and picked up a belkin laptop cooling pad, powered by USB. After 4 hours of watching Purdue Beat Michigan, the bottom of the Sling Catcher is cooler than my beer. Just an fyi...

Picture Freezing

I've noticed that when watching playback over both a SlingCatcher and via PC, from an ExpressVu DVR based in Canada, watching over a good high speed connection about 2,700 miles away, that the picture freezes fairly regularly. What's interesting is that it typically occurs during sporting events, and always during a replay. The picture freeze is "presignalled" by an audible "beep". If I rewind the DVR, the freeze will occur at the exact same time. Has anyone else experienced this? Any fixes? Thx

I purchased the Slingbox Solo last year. It is AWESOME; however, 2 months ago, it started freezing on me. Last night after I did a hard reset it stated that it is an "Unconfigured Slingbox. You must set up your Slingbox before you can use it. Do you want to start the Slingbox Setup Assistant now?" Whenever I use the Slingbox Setup Assistant, at some point during the process, I receive the error message: "Slingbox configuration has failed. Unable to connect to the Slingbox. Please verify your Slingbox network and connection settings and try again." I have tried correcting the issue to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi! Just today, my Catcher decided to not find all the files in my shared folders. I'd say that it's only picking up about 50% of the files. I would say that it is picking up about 10 gig of the 27 gig of data. Any ideas why it could be doing this? thanks!!

Components: TiVO HD XL, Slingbox ProHD running with Verizon FiOS (5MB Upload speed) SlingCatcher hooked with HDMI cables to 54" plasma 1080p TV. Computer running SlingPlayer is running Vista, i7 920 Processer, 8MB RAM. 10MB download speed. The Problem: I am able to stream 3200 kbps on my computer by Manually setting it to 3200 (if I try to increase it, it gets choppy). When I stream on SlingCatcher it goes from 1600-2200 kbps. Is there any way to ensure I'm getting the most out of my available bandwidth on the SlingCatcher? I'm getting way better streams by setting it manually on the Player, but Catcher is less fun. Any ideas? Thanks! Robert

Apologies if this has been covered before. So I recently got the slingbox solo. From the pictures, I can see that the input options are 3 way RCA, s-video, and composite video. The problem is, my cable comes in from the wall to my tv in just a coaxial cable, with no box in between. Therefore, I am looking for something to either: 1. convert coaxial cable to rca 3way 2. convert coaxial cable to single rca, then that to 3 way rca 3. convert coaxial to rca audio and s-video Suggestions?

I tried reseting it by pressing the reset button for 5 seconds (and longer) and it doesn't seem to help. I've also tried unplugging the Slingbox from the power and waiting a bit.

I have been slinging my TV from the east coast to the west coast for over 3 months. I have a PRO-HD on the east coast and a SlingCatcher on the west coastg. Eerything has been awesome. Perfect picture, no lag. I could not be happier, until..... Yesterday I turned on my SlingPlayer on my laptop for the first time in a long time. When I did I was told there was a Slingbox update. Something told me to ignore it since everything has been working so well. But against my first instinct I let it install. Every since I did that everything has gone to hell. The picture on my Slingcatcher is barely watchable. I get constant lag and after watching TV for about 30 minutes everything stops and I have to turn the SlingCatcher off and then back on. I cannot beleive this happened. I can't believe an update would screw everything up so badly. The current version i am on now is 1.3.170. I dont remember what it was before but is there any way I can roll back this last update and put on the old one that I had???? PLEASE tell me there is. Has...

OK, here is my deal. I'm hoping someone can help. I switched to DSL(qwest) and here is my set-up. 2wire 2701 hg-d wireless modem Sling A/V When I go to add a slingbox it says that it can't find it. I thought it was something to do with port forwarding but when I put in 5001 it's also asking my for an IP address of the sling. The problem is that I can't see the IP address anywhere. I tried reseting. Both lights on the sling are solid red. I've tried turning off the windows 7 firewall. DHCP=Yes When I go to my LAN device list it just shows my laptop and my PC. I'm sure it's something in the router settings but I have no idea how to open it up. Any ideas?

I have tried from three different computers, two Win7 and one XP all computers less that 1 year old. Fios 25 doen speed. Verizon gave me a Westell Ultra 3 Series router. When I log on to the router I notice that it shows the Catcher with a STATIC connection but when I go to setup on the Cathcer it is setup for DHCP. I can't get either to change to the same setup.Any thoughts? Gshacienda

Big Mistake! Now I can't connect to the Slingbox. I asked someone at home to reset the Slingbox, which they did. But no luck connecting to slingbox from my current remote location. Is there anything I can do to get connected to the slingbox without having to go back home to connect within the home network? I am using SlingPlayer 2.X.

However, TV 2 gets its Audio & Video from a 75 OHM connection and not RCA audio cables. As a result, the audio in to the Slingbox from the second audion connection on the DVR worked until recently, now it has quit. Anybody out there have a solution to this problem?

I have never written one of these before so I am going to be as specific as possible... Alright, I bought my slingbox solo at the beginning of September because I was going away to live in Germany for about 9 months... My husband got a job out here and I literally have nothing to do so I rely heavily on my slingbox.. When I turn it on it continuously freezes goes back on.. freezes and continues to do that have 2 to 3 seconds.. the picture is also blurry... I updated the slingbox on Friday and didnt notice a change in it until sunday night. However, I was not home all weekend so wouldn't have noticed... When I updated my slingbox in reconfigured (i believe taht is the term) my slingbox at home as well.. I went on other threads and tried to fix it myself... I had my contact at home check for any loose wires, the internet connection and unplug and replug in the slingbox... Everything at home was still perfect... I even tried to uninstall and reinstall slingplayer on my computer... I have two computers in Germany and both are doing the exact same thing... nothing...

Hi, I have a slingbox classic in the UK, which works fine streaming to the Indian Ocean - I get about 300k. I use VLC on my PC to rebroadcast the stream and then use a modded xbox to watch it on my TV. The picture quality is adequate (however considering that I'm getting UK tv, I am more than happy with it). Nosing around these forums and others, I have seen mention that some of the older firmwares were unencrypted and because of that, the picture quality was better. Some people have even rolled back to this older firmware because of this (and also the ability to record). My Classic has a hardware version of 1.59.0 and a firmware version of 1.2.4 Is it true about the better picture quality (I don't care about the recording ability) and if so which was the last firmware version that was unencrypted. Also can I downgrade the Classic remotely or do I need to do it locall. Thanks
