I use the same XP version and it works fine. This is the first time I have heard of this problem. Might be a problem regirtesting DLLs or maybe some kind of anti virus conflict....

No you don't need a static IP address for use remotely. But I recommend you have one setup on your LAN. Do you have the ability to do that on your router?

I would reset the Slingbox by using the reset button on the back of the box. Then re-run the setup wizard. That should get you going.

Can you setup the Lan ip address and port forwarding manually in your router for the Slingbox? I have seen this resolve a lot of problems.

Not that I know of. You get the choice of one or the other. You can't have the Slingbox change on a per channel basis.
