Reply to Spring news from Sling on April 13, 2008

Is it a US-only update e-mail - I certainly haven't received anything from Sling recently (in fact not sure when I last did apart from Beta programme things).

Reply to Sling Catcher release date? on April 9, 2008

I must admit that personally I've very little interest in Clip+Sling, but very much interested in the Slinging capabilities of the SlingCatcher (not just the media sharing features).

Reply to Can Apple Say 'No' to SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone? on March 19, 2008

I'd be happy just with a WiFi version for the iPod Touch! Surely though it's a matter for consumers and mobile networks to decide upon what is a 'bandwidth hog' - Apple don't need to...

I agree with you, the_nerdy - the SlingCatcher would be ideal for my parents - they can't get good TV reception in their kitchen and could instead use a SlingCatcher to receive video from either...

Reply to Sling Gets Into the Set Top Box Game on January 11, 2008

Sling should look at releasing a box like this in the UK just now to capitalise on the analogue to digital switchover (sadly no $40/£20 vouchers here though!). Alan

Although it's easy to run a home network anywhere you want in your house with powerline ethernet devices - a lot more hassle to run satellite coax to other rooms. It would also be useful...

Agreed, that's a great video. It explained the functions really well and actually made me much more interested in the product (esp. the SlingSync functionality which I hadn't really thought much of before seeing this...

Reply to CES Announcements: SlingPlayer 2.0, SlingLink Wireless, SlingCatcher, & SlingModem on January 8, 2008

Like the looks of the SlingCatcher. Hope SlingPlayer 2.0 won't be US-only in EPG support. Doubt many in the UK will go for the SlingModem (if it even gets released over here) as Virgin Media...
