Yes it does. Can you bring your laptop to a coffee shop or someplace with Internet and try to run the slingplayer software? This will determine if it's the your local Internet or your son's.

Also, it's a matter of preference. Some people prefer really sharp images but not as high frame rate. Some people prefer smooth frame rates but grainier images. It depends on what you are watching. Sports...

You can point a remote control for your TV or DVD player into the camera and see what the flashing light looks like. FYI

Are you using your laptop inside of your local network or on another remote network?

Lots of upload speeds. Lots and lots. Generally speaking, a 2mb+ connection will give you the best results. You'll have to have a matching download connection as well.

There is no difference in packets in the way that you are thinking about them. Sounds like you might have a bad Slingbox. I'd call Slingmedia. It happens.

Hmm. You choose option #3. And that is going to be a lot more difficult or expensive. To do that, my best guess would be to install router software on your laptop and have that...

Reply to Slingbox streaming on August 5, 2008

I'm assuming that the pay as you go broadband is just for viewing the slingbox. I'm going to also assume that your upload speed at the location of your slingbox matches the download of your...

Reply to Slingbox streaming on August 4, 2008

That is correct. What is the upload/download rate on that plan? On my connection, I get 768kbps Which equates to about 250-300MB per hour of bandwidth.

Reply to no land line on August 4, 2008

It depends on what you mean by connect the sling player to your laptop. There are two scenarios I can think of. 1. Your slingbox is local to your house, And you want to connect...

Ok. Report back your findings. Good luck.

Reply to US Slingbox Pro in Japan, no remote forwarding on August 3, 2008

I believe it's more the fact that the router doesn't have the correct ports open and forwarded. The easiest thing to do for him would be to do a hard reset of the box and...

Ah ha... You are using cable internet along with an HD cable source. All the digital bits are traveling on the same cable into and out of your house. When you watch an HD source...

Do a search on google. I've seen them online before. Also, you can use a digital camera to verify if the IR cable is working.

You're basically setting the box up for the first time over again. I would look into the manual and follow the directions for setting it up.

Reply to Differrent stream speeds with different video inputs on August 2, 2008

What is the video service you are using for your HD DVR? If it's an IPTV source, your stream speed will be affected adveresely.

Reply to Do you have to use a splitter?... on July 29, 2008

The slingbox should be able to turn the DVD recorder off and on if has the remote codes for it. Also the slingbox should have a pass through so you won't need a splitter.
